MENU

The foundation of each child learning at the Pre-Prep and Nursery begins in the early years where they learn through guided play, exploration and discovery.

Our outstanding practitioners develop positive relationships with the children, create stimulating learning environments and plan exciting learning opportunities to ensure every child feels safe, happy, confident and ready to learn.

Our school day starts at 8.35am and after registration, our children begin their first lesson of the day, followed by break at 10.30am. Their second lesson follows and takes them onto lunch at 12.00pm, followed by another two lessons and home time at 3.15pm.

We also offer wraparound care with our early birds club from 8.00am and after-school club from 3.15pm to 5.45pm, including tea at 4.00pm.

Early Years (Pre-Nursery to Reception)

Ages 2 – 5 years

Our children benefit hugely from learning outdoors. Stories around a campfire, bear hunts through the forest and making dens during forest school sessions are just some examples of our high-quality outdoor provision.

Specialist teaching takes place across Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception where children also enjoy high-quality music, PE, forest school, ICT and French sessions. Sharing stories and making links to books develops children’s language and captures their imagination whilst the introduction of phonics enables the children to begin reading and writing. Children enjoy mark making in time to music which promotes early writing skills and develops muscles ready for letter formation.

Each child’s learning journey is unique and shared with parents in a variety of ways. An online learning journal called Tapestry enables parents to view personalised photographs of their child along with positive and informative teacher comments. Regular communication from staff ensure parents are involved in their child’s learning journey.

Pre-Preparatory (Years 1 and 2)

Ages 5 – 7 years

In Years 1 and 2 children learn to take responsibility for their learning, we encourage independence and reward individual achievement. Personal success is celebrated and shared in order to build self-confidence.

Observation and assessment inform future targets for each child. This, combined with frequent communication with parents, enables school and home to work together for the all-round development of each child.

The Pre-Prep has a dedicated swimming pool, sports hall and library. Specialist staff teach French, PE, games, music as well as computing and technology integration. We also provide EAL and IN tuition. Children are able to take part in a wide variety of co-curricular activities to enrich learning and develop skills outside the classroom.
