U11 Team Place 3rd at Epsom College Netball Festival

Published on 06/10/17

The U11A team finished a fantastic 3rd place out of 23 schools from Surrey and London in the Epsom College Netball Festival on 4 October 2017.

In the group stages, the girls beat Aberdour, Newland House, Twickenham Prep and Thomas Battersea - only losing one game to Hornsby House. It was fantastic to see the girls implementing some excellent attack and defence throughout. These resilient performances saw Claremont go through to the quarter finals to face Micklefield.

This quarter final against Micklefield proved tense after a 1-1 draw at full time led to golden goal extra time. Claremont won the toss for the centre pass and the team moved the ball safely into the shooting circle. Numerous teams, spectators and coaches were on the side lines supporting, meaning the pressure was on! However, Maddie H took it in her stride and scored the winning goal.

The girls faced Orchard House in the semi final; an end to end game full of excitement. Unfortunately, Claremont just missed out and the match ended 1-0 to Orchard House. The final game of the tournament was the playoff for 3rd/4th pace against Hornsby House. The girls showed great energy and played their best game of the tournament despite the tough opposition to finish in 3rd place overall. Congratulations to the girls on a truly brilliant tournament.
