Limpsfield Chart Orienteering Report
Published on 16/01/18
Limpsfield Chart, an interesting and varied area of mixed woodland lying between Oxted and Westerham in Kent, provided a good challenge for the four members of the Claremont Fan Court School Orienteering Squad who travelled there at the weekend.
Joe B improved very substantially on his performance the previous week by having his best run so far, coming 6th on the Orange course in 34:28. On the Green course, Alex O approached the topographically very tricky technical section of the course with caution and was rewarded with another pleasing time, coming 36th in 75:11. Robert G had a good run on the Short Green course, finishing 8th in 54:28. The best performance was that of Nathan J, who was recently invited to join the South East Junior Orienteering Squad and had spent the previous day training with the squad and learning how to improve his use of the compass. He clearly put the lessons to good use on the Short Green course, storming through the forest to finish 3rd in 44:40, his best result of the season. These are all solid performances that show the squad’s steady rate of improvement.
