Junior Orienteering League

The first Junior Orienteering League event of 2018 was held at Eagle House School. Although the school grounds are relatively small, they manage to pack in a surprising variety of terrain and vegetation, including heathland, marsh, dense forest, steep hills and an intricate system of paths and buildings, which combine to provide physically and navigationally challenging courses. Only two members of the Claremont Fan Court School Orienteering Squad were able to attend the fixture, but they acquitted themselves with credit.
Nathan J maintained his run of good form to finish 8th on the Light Green course in 55:09, while Alexander O, attempting his first Short Blue course, did extremely well to become the highest placed junior with his 16th position in a time of 64:16. Both boys gained high league ranking scores, but without any other runners to back them up, their efforts were unfortunately not enough to move the school up from its position of 4th in the league.
