U12 and U13 Lacrosse Tournament

Published on 05/03/18

The U12A, U12B and U13 lacrosse teams participated in the Abbot’s Hill Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday 24 February. Both the U12A and B teams were drawn in very tough pools with strong competition including Wycombe Abbey and St George’s Harpenden. Despite this, both the U12A and B teams started with great determination and strength to gain two wins against St Alban’s High School and Walthamstow Hall respectively. This winning streak continued for the A team who went on to win the rest of their pool matches, bar a very tough final match against St George’s Harpenden where they drew 1-1. Meanwhile, the B team showed real promise, winning 4 games out of 6 and beating North London Collegiate School and Abbot’s Hill A teams.

After a very tense wait to determine goal difference, the U12A team finished second in their pool and made it through to the third position playoffs versus St Alban’s High School (A).  The girls performed fantastically and thanks to two goals scored by Molly R and Tabitha W, Claremont won 2-1 to claim bronze medal position! This is a fantastic result for the whole squad and demonstrates the ongoing commitment and effort the girls have displayed throughout the year so far.  Congratulations to all the girls and a special mention must go to the Most Valuable Player’s (MVP’s) of the tournament; Ella T and Molly R.

The U13 lacrosse team demonstrated some excellent teamwork and level of play during their Abbot’s Hill tournament, proving themselves with pool wins against St Albans High School (B), North London Collegiate School (B), Walthamstow Hall and St Georges Ascot. In an end-to-end exhilarating game, they drew 1-1 with Wycombe Abbey and experienced a narrow 1-0 defeat against St Helen’s. Disappointingly, the girls missed out on qualification for the quarter-finals due to goal difference, but we congratulate Kate C on receiving Player of the Tournament.
