U18 National Schools Lacrosse

Published on 21/03/18

The girls have had a long season of preparation in the run up to the U18 National Schools Lacrosse tournament. After a weekend of snow the tournament was postponed much to the disappointment of the girls but they continued their training after a rescheduled date was confirmed.

Despite being drawn up against some of the best lacrosse schools in the country, the girls performed extremely impressively with outstanding goal scoring by Freya G and Chloe S, not to mention some phenomenal saves by Georgina G. Claremont were placed 3rd in the pool before their final match against St Helen's. Feeling exhausted, the girls accepted a marginal 2-1 loss but fortunately this result still allowed for a division 2 qualification. Unfortunately, day 2 of the tournament was cancelled due to poor weather conditions with no further play. However, there were plenty of positives to take from the tournament; the girls performed extremely well and it is evident that their hard work and commitment to lacrosse throughout the year is really paying off.

"The girls performed fantastically well at the U18 National Schools Lacrosse, playing schools such as Birkenhead, Berkhamstead and GHS. I’m very pleased with how lacrosse is progressing at Claremont Fan Court and have enjoyed seeing the popularity of the sport increase across more year groups.” Miss Harfitt, Lacrosse Coach
