Sandown Dual Slalom Championships

Published on 22/05/18

On Sunday 20 May, the Prep School and the Senior School entered four teams into the Sandown Dual Slalom Championships: The Eagle Trilogy skiing event at Sandown Ski Centre. The event consisted of four individuals per team competing in a relay style race. Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards was the starter for all of the races.

The Prep School teams in the U12 category found themselves face against some tough competition, which included three Sandown Ski Race teams, particularly since the Claremont teams consisted of U10 and U11 pupils.  All the pupils performed fantastically well, even though the tight turns took some navigation and control. Although the performers were nervous, they thoroughly enjoyed the experience and look forward to participating again in the future.

The U14A race team performed exceptionally well in their group, winning two and losing one race, out of the first three races. Unfortunately, in the final race of the group, a late disqualification meant that the team finished third. This meant they narrowly missed out on the semi-finals. The U14B race team showed great progress throughout the afternoon. After a nervous start, the girls performed some quick races with a much-improved technique. Pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience and had a fantastic day.
