National Prep School Champion

Published on 10/07/18

Claremont has a growing reputation for athletics and the School was proud to send Tom W, Alex H-A and Gabriel R to the recent Surrey Prep School Championships. The goal was to come 1st or 2nd to gain selection for Surrey to compete in the National Prep School Athletics Championships held at the famous Birmingham Track. Tom came 2nd in the 800m and Gabriel won the 100m and Long Jump. Sadly Alex missed out coming home in 3rd over the 100m.

Competing against the best mean that you need to be in top form to succeed. Tom struggled to keep up with the fast pace over the 800m. However, Gabriel had a dream day. He finished strongly over the 100m to come home in 2nd place and get a silver medal.  He then competed in the long jump and jumped a massive 5.31m to win gold and become National Prep School Champion. An outstanding performance from a talented individual. The School and PE department are proud of all the boys who competed in the championships.
