Witley Common Orienteering

Published on 16/11/18

Three members of the school orienteering squad travelled to Witley Common on the 10 November for the third Junior League orienteering event of the season.

Nathan J had a good steady run on the technically tricky Light Green course, finishing 8th in 54:06 and picking up 73 league points. Newcomer Oliver M found the navigation a little too challenging for a solo run on the Yellow course and had to retire early, but learned some valuable lessons for next time. Thomas F, however, on only his second run in a league event, kept a cool head to stay in touch with the map and complete the Yellow course in 6th place in a very impressive 26:15, thereby gaining 88 league points and helping the Claremont Fan Court squad to outscore Esher Scouts for third place despite the scouts’ numerical superiority.
