As a gently selective school, which places children at the centre of our thinking, we aim to offer an admissions process which helps you and your child to feel confident that you have found your best fit school.

We have a small number of places available for entry into Year 3 and 5 at the start of each academic year and we hold our main assessment for these places in November of the autumn term prior to entry.  For Year 4 and Year 6 we may have occasional places available, please contact admissions to enquire about these.

We also welcome enquiries at other times during the year and will consider applications for entry within the current academic year as well as, more typically, for the next academic where spaces are still available.

Mrs Joanna Worsfold is your point of contact for admissions into our Prep School and available to answer your enquiries at admissions@claremont.surrey.sch.uk or on 01372 473 621. Families are also most welcome to make enquiries via our online form by clicking here.

Our simple four-step process for admissions into our Prep School is as follows:

1. Attend an open morning

All prospective families are warmly invited to attend an open morning. To get a true sense of life at Claremont, families are given an insightful tour led by our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, followed by a welcome talk with our head of Prep School, Mrs Helen Hutton-Attenborough and the opportunity to explore any questions you may have.

Our next open morning will be held Thursday 21 March 2024 at 9:00am and you can click here to book for this event.

2. Application form

Families are invited to submit an application via our online form here.

Our applications include the submission of a recent photo of your child, their most recent school report and payment of the £125 non-refundable registration fee.  For siblings, a separate application should be made for each child.

3. Attend an admissions morning

Following receipt of the application form and registration fee, your child will be invited to attend an admissions morning.  We are mindful that for many children this will be their first experience of assessment and our aim is to put them at ease from the moment they arrive. While your child is with us, they will complete an age-appropriate maths and English assessment along with a creative writing activity, all completed in a supportive small group environment.  We aim to make the experience as relaxed as possible and your child may ask for guidance at any time.

We hold our main admissions morning in the November of the autumn term prior to entry with further assessment mornings through the spring and summer terms where in-year or other occasional places are available.

4. Receive an offer

Mrs Helen Hutton-Attenborough or a member of our admissions team will be in touch shortly after the assessment to discuss the outcomes. Where a space is offered, families have a three-week window in which to confirm their acceptance by completing the relevant paperwork and pay their £1,000 deposit.

Those families joining in September are invited to our settling in afternoon in the summer term (usually held in the last week of June) where the children will be warmly welcomed by our teachers and meet their new classmates. While parents will have the opportunity to come along to our good-as-new uniform sale and meet with representatives of our PTA.
