Pre-Season Tennis: Skill Development and Competitive Matches

The tennis season kicked off with an action-packed pre-season training day led by ESG coaches. The morning was dedicated to skill-building, with students mastering techniques and strategies under expert guidance. Their enthusiasm and commitment were evident as they eagerly absorbed new knowledge and practiced diligently.

In the afternoon, the focus shifted to competitive matches, where students showcased their improved skills and competed fiercely against each other. The matches were intense and closely contested, reflecting the progress made during the morning session.

Looking ahead, we are excited about the momentum gained from this successful pre-season training. With a strong foundation in place, we are confident that our students are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities that the upcoming tennis season will bring. Here’s to a promising and rewarding season ahead!

A Week of Tennis Action: Surrey League Matches Kick Off the Season

Our new tennis season began with a bang as our teams hit the courts for the first Surrey League matches of the year. Here’s a quick recap of the week’s highlights:

U/13 Girls played on Tuesday: Despite a spirited effort, the girls faced a tough challenge against Sutton Girls High, falling short in their opening match.

Senior Boys and Girls Battle at Esher Tennis Club

Wednesday saw our Senior Boys in action at Esher Tennis Club, facing off against formidable opponents in Reed’s School and St Pauls. The Senior Boys put on a commendable performance, battling fiercely in closely contested matches. Despite drawing both matches, they fell short in the tie-breaks, resulting in two hard-fought losses. Despite the outcome, the boys showed great resilience and determination, setting a positive tone for the matches to come.

Senior Girls: Our Senior Girls shone bright, securing a victory against Woldingham and showcasing their teamwork and determination.

U/15 Boys Debut on Thursday: Making their Surrey League debut, the U/15 Boys faced Ewell Castle and, despite a spirited effort, were unable to secure a win.

It’s been an exciting week of tennis, filled with challenges and learning opportunities for our teams. With the season now underway, our players are eager to continue improving, supporting each other, and striving for success in the Surrey League. Here’s to a fantastic season ahead.

Ben C served up an amazing Easter break!

What a phenomenal Easter school break for Ben C! He kicked things off by winning the U12 Grade 4 at West Worthing Tennis Club, Sussex! Not stopping there, he went on to conquer the U12 Grade 3 (Regional) title at the Caesarean Open in Jersey. He even tested his skills in the U14 Grade 3, battling his way to the semi-finals! Back on home turf, Ben showed his versatility, competing in his first ever 16U event at Norbury Tennis Club and finishing runner-up against a much taller opponent. He finished the break strong, claiming silver at the U16 Grade 5 tournament at Purley Tennis Club, not dropping a single game until the finals! Congratulations Ben! We are incredibly proud of your dedication and impressive wins!
