Mozart at the Movies Concert

Published on 16/03/18

On the evening of Thursday 15 March, the Senior Orchestra and Senior Choir joined forces to perform a very enjoyable concert in the Great Room based on popular songs and melodies from the movies. It was a treat to revisit well-known tunes and even more of a treat to join in with the Senior Choir in their medley of songs from Mama Mia!

In addition, the Senior Orchestra performed the first movement of Mozart’s Symphony no 1 which he composed during a visit to London in 1764.  Mozart was a great melody writer and has long influenced the great melody writers of film music, including John Williams, so it seemed apt to include this in the programme as well.

Under the baton of Mr Affonso, all our musicians gave us a performance they should be really proud of.  Many thanks to all the performers, Mr Affonso and Mr Hitchcock for a very enjoyable evening.
