Published on 26/06/18

On Friday 22 June, Year 10 Textile Design pupils visited the Fashioned from Nature exhibition at the V&A and Azzedine Alaïa: The Couturier exhibition at the Design Museum.

First up was the Fashioned from Nature exhibition which explores the complex relationship between fashion and nature from 1600 to the present day. It presented fashionable dresses alongside natural history specimens, innovative new fabrics and dyeing processes, and displayed a range of fashion materials.

The pupils then visited the Design Museum to see the Azzedine Alaïa: The Couturier exhibition. This major fashion exhibition celebrates the timeless beauty of the haute couture designer Azzedine Alaïa’s work over the past thirty-five years. The exhibition showcased more than 60 examples of Alaïa's work. The pupils discovered the mastery of his tailoring and viewed his innovative silhouettes and materials behind the designer's unique creations. The pupils took photos and notes to include in their coursework project.
