Published on 10/10/18
Textile Design pupils visited the Design Museum on Friday 5 October to see the Azzedine Alaïa: The Couturier exhibition. During their visit, pupils were thrilled to meet leading fashion designer, Molly Goddard, who was also attending the exhibition. The pupils have recently completed a study on Molly Goddard’s bold and eye-catching design ideas, so were very excited to meet her in person!
The major fashion exhibition celebrates the timeless beauty of the haute couture designer Azzedine Alaïa's work. The pupils were able to view his innovative silhouettes and materials behind the designer's unique creations.
The pupils then visited the Beazley Designers of the year 2018 exhibition which showcases the most original and exciting products, concepts and designers in the world today across Fashion, Architecture, Product and Graphics. The pupils went on to visit the Fashioned from Nature exhibition at the V&A museum. The exhibition explores the complex relationship between fashion and nature. It presented fashionable dresses alongside natural history specimens as well as innovative new fabrics and dyeing processes. The pupils will use the photos they took on the trip in their present floral design project.
