Creepy Crawlies in Nursery
Published on 14/03/19
Nursery have bounced into Spring with the topic of Creepy Crawlies. The children have been making the most of our insect themed role-play areas, and have enjoyed checking off all of the creepy crawlies they can spot. We have been looking at the life cycle of a butterfly and have enjoyed lots of activities relating to this theme; from threading leaves to making caterpillar paperchains. A special delivery arrived on Monday 11 March in the form of 5 tiny live caterpillars for each class to (hopefully!) watch grow into butterflies and release into the school garden. As part of our ‘hook’ into the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, we tasted each of the fruits that he ate, and thought of exciting words to describe these. The children then got to paint the apples, orange, plums, pears and strawberries to put on display. Nursery have had a buzzzzy start to the half-term!
