Year 4 Science Club

The spring term saw enthusiastic year 4 pupils coming up to the senior school science department for a weekly lunchtime of exciting bangs, smoke, smells and flashes. The pupils were shown how much fun science can be by two of our intrepid year 13 pupils, Georgina Goodwin and Jack Peacock, ably supported by our team of technicians led by Mrs Sellings. They investigated non-Newtonian fluids, otherwise known as cornflour and water, discovering how to make cornflour monsters dance to sound vibrations. They also used microscopes and Bunsen burners to watch jelly babies scream. The highlight for many was the opportunity to touch dry ice, which they used to make smoke filled bubbles and exploding film canisters. Georgina and Jack have certainly inspired the next generation of Claremont Fan Court scientists.
