GCSE art trip to Kew Gardens

Year 10 GCSE art pupils visited the Dale Chihuly exhibition at Kew Gardens on Monday 16 September. The group had a wonderful day viewing the stunning large scale colourful glass sculptures by Chihuly around the gardens and in the glass houses. Pupils produced some excellent coloured pencil sketches which will inform the start of their coursework project: 'patterns in nature'. It was interesting to discuss how Chihuly uses nature to inspire his sculptures and how colour, form and light play an essential part in how the sculptures are experienced.
