Year 5 WWII drama workshop

Year 5 have continued to enjoy their World War II history topic and were able to participate in a fantastic historically themed drama workshop, led by the visiting drama specialist, Michael Shilling. In this workshop, pupils played a variety of roles including a parent waving off their evacuated child at the train station platform and an evacuee child receiving a letter from their parent. Under Michael’s expert guidance, the children were able to convey real emotion in subtle ways through their body language and facial expression. It was impressive to see the maturity and sophistication of the acting on display throughout the day and the event really helped pupils to fully appreciate the experience of living through the wartime era.
