Year 1 visit Nower Wood

Year 1 and a group of parents wrapped up warm and braved the chilly temperatures to become minibeast explorers at Nower Wood on Monday 11 November. After meeting the guides, the children started the day by learning all about the life cycle of a frog before going pond dipping. The children found water mites, greater water boatman and even a leech which they were able to look at in more detail under microscopes.
In the afternoon, armed with their ‘tickling sticks’ the children enjoyed an adventure into the woods in search of minibeasts hiding under log piles. The final activity of the day was a blindfolded woodlouse trail where the children held onto a rope to feel their way around the course. Overall, a fantastic day was had at Nower Wood!
