'Just One Tree' poetry reading final

Published on 22/11/19

The Prep School held their annual Poetry Final on Friday 22 November. This year’s theme linked with the “just one tree” national initiative to raise awareness of the impact of climate change. The children dressed in shades of green and each donated £1.00 towards the charity Just One Tree (www.justonetree.life/). The total raised was a fantastic £220, meaning Just One Tree can plant 220 trees as part of their one trillion tree pledge to significantly reduce the impact of global warming. Their aim is to 'make it effortless for individuals and businesses alike to remove CO2 from the atmosphere'.

The poems focused around the human impact on the natural world and the standard of entries this year was very high. Congratulations to all our finalists.

We were delighted to award the following prizes:

  • Junior Prize: Hector F “Lorax” by Doctor Seuss
  • Senior Prize: Arabella L  “The Oak Tree”  by anon
  • Outstanding Performance: Annabelle W “The Newcomer” by Brian Patten
