Q&A with Commissioning Editor of 'A Christmas Carol'
Published on 05/12/19
On Tuesday 3 December Year 10 and 11 pupils had the opportunity to attend a Q&A session with Mona Qureshi, the BBC1 and BBC2 Commissioning Editor for Drama. The evening focussed on the BBC1 re-make of A Christmas Carol; a three part series due to appear on our screens in the run up to Christmas.
The Dickens classic is one of our chosen GCSE texts for English literature, and the pupils have enjoyed learning about the iconic ghost story and its many adaptations over the years. Pupils were able to ask Mona questions about how this year's production has been written for a contemporary audience and how it has been adapted.
A Christmas Carol is Dickens most filmed and televised book, so there were challenges in making it relevant to today’s society. Mona was very eloquent about the whole production, explaining why the BBC have chosen to remake it.. yet again. She was also able to give pupils an insight into the world of tv and film, offering advice to those interested in work experience within the industry.
