Dense undergrowth and a complex path structure provided plenty of navigational challenges for the four members of the Claremont Fan Court School orienteering squad who took part in the Guildford Orienteers’ ‘Christmas combo’ event at Newlands Corner on Saturday 7 December.

On the Yellow course Ellis B and Jack J had their best run so far, negotiating the 1.4 km course securely in 16:59 to finish in a well-deserved 3rd place. Despite taking 17 minutes to find control number 6, Thomas F nevertheless found his overall time of 53:05 good enough for 4th place on the Orange course. The best result was undoubtedly that of Nathan J, who ran an excellent race to come 1st on the Light Green course in the very impressive time of 40:37. Well done to all.
