'Claremont decides' mock election

Sixth form students led their own ‘Claremont decides’ mock election on Thursday 12 December to coincide with the general election. The panel of party candidates sat before the Senior School and enthusiastically put forward their arguments on a range of topics including funding for youth centres, knife crime, government spending and Brexit in a bid to get a majority vote from fellow pupils. It was clear to see that the party candidates had put in a great deal of effort to prepare for the hustings and had been gathering support from pupils in the run up to the election.
We are delighted to have given this next generation of voters a platform in which to have their say on current government policies. The experience has been hugely valuable in engaging our young people in the world of politics.
