Year 11 history trip to Spitalfields

Published on 10/02/20

On Saturday 1 February, a group of Year 11 history pupils travelled to the East End of London to gain first hand experience of the conditions experienced by different groups who have settled in London over the last four hundred years.  After a morning at Docklands Museum and a bus journey to Spitalfields, a walking tour of Whitechapel was undertaken including sites relevant to significant events for the Huguenot, Jewish and Bangladeshi communities settling in London. Spitalfields is the case study for the Year 11 curriculum so this was a very useful exercise to bring to life the reality of the experiences faced by these communities.
