Marvellous maths challenge

On Wednesday 12 February it was a privilege to accompany four fine mathematicians from Year 2 to a maths challenge organised by Shrewsbury Prep School in Esher. Six local prep schools with a total of 22 teams were invited to compete against each other to win the maths challenge trophy. Max, Kush, Julia and Isabella were selected from Year 2 to present Claremont Fan Court School. Initially all were a little nervous but excited to take part. Once they started their nerves settled and they impressed us by showing fantastic teamwork, application of maths skills, using logic and great perseverance!
The challenges included code breaking to find the value of different shapes, 3D shape building with spaghetti and plasticine and exhausting all the possible ways of representing different colour combinations. Well done!
