Senior School ski trip to Austria
Published on 20/02/20
In the early hours of Saturday 15 February, pupils and students departed for the annual Claremont Fan Court School ski trip – this year to Saalbach, Hinterglemm in Austria.
Upon arrival, the resort was bathed in sunshine and the conditions on the slopes were excellent. Pupils and students got kitted out in no time and the next morning, the group were able to enjoy a full day of skiing.
The first two days were warm with beautiful sunshine, fantastic views and good snow. On day 3 the temperature dropped noticeably and the group took shelter from the chilly winds to enjoy lunch in a mountain restaurant. Evening activities included bum-boarding and tubing but sadly no ice-skating on account of the ice rink melting!
Day 4 started off as a beautiful morning, a little colder with the welcome sight of fresh snowfall by lunchtime. After lunch the weather turned quickly, resulting in high winds and lots of snow. Whilst this limited the skiing for the rest of the day, it made for some fantastic skiing conditions over the following two days.
During the final days of the trip, the skiers and boarders enjoyed fresh snowfall on the pistes and were able to put what they had learnt during their lessons earlier in the week into good practice. The groups got to enjoy the entire resort and various culinary delights of the mountain restaurants.
Overall, Saalbach was a wonderful experience and the group thoroughly enjoyed making memories at the resort.
