England lacrosse nationals success

Claremont Fan Court School lacrosse enjoyed a very busy and successful few days at the England lacrosse national schools’ tournament in Aldershot at the beginning of March, with excellent performances from each of our teams against the best lacrosse schools in the country.
Our 1st team were the first to compete and, after some strong pool matches, they qualified for division 1 and progressed through to the last 16 where they faced a tough St Paul’s side. Despite a valiant effort, the girls just missed out with 3-2 the final score.
The following day our U15s arrived, ready to demonstrate the skills they had been working on throughout the year. They performed superbly in the group stages with 3 wins, a draw and 2 defeats. These results ensured a place in the championship last 16, a feat never achieved before by Claremont Fan Court. The girls played exceptionally well against Moreton Hall but lost out on a quarter final spot with a 5-2 defeat.
Our U14s had a big example to follow on the final day of the tournament and they certainly relished the challenge, finishing their group with 2 wins, a draw and 2 defeats. The girls narrowly missed out on a championship spot but sailed through to division 1. Their hard work and training throughout the year helped the girls reach the quarter finals, the semi finals and then, wonderfully, the final. Despite giving their all, the girls lost to a strong St Helen and St Katherine side 4-1, but returned to school very proud their efforts as runners up.
