Prep School VE Day visitor

Published on 09/03/20

On Monday 9 March, the children had a special visitor from the local community to judge a history competition to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day. Mrs Wickham lived through VE day in 1945 and was blown away by all of the outstanding entries. The children were given the theme of “Peace” and were asked to create a project inspired by it. The creativity and depth of knowledge shown by the children was fantastic and it was very difficult to make a decision. Jake W was chosen as the Year 3 and 4 winner, Emily F-M as the Year 5 and 6 winner and the overall winner was Magnus O from Year 3. Mrs Wickham also spent some time with a group of children discussing her war-time experiences which was a very special opportunity for those attending.
