On Tuesday 10 March, A level textile design students visited the Alexander McQueen exhibition ‘Roses’, above the Alexander McQueen flagship store in the Old Bond Street. This rose-themed inspirational exhibition explores the brand’s lasting connection with flower symbolism through spectacular pieces from collections past and present. The couture garments incorporate a wide range of inspirational textile techniques which inspired the students.
Students then visited Shoreditch to see street art located around Brick Lane, Heneage Street and Fashion Street. This was a fantastic opportunity to photograph a wide variety of street artists and architectural structures relevant to the student's exam briefs. They were able to see works by London street artist Phlegm and American street artist Pyramid Oracle. These very different experiences provided the students with a wide range of inspirational ideas to develop in their exam projects.
