A run of success for Year 8 athlete
Published on 02/12/21
Many congratulations to Year 8 pupil and budding athletics star, Rachel R, who has been busy adding a number of athletics achievements to her name this cross-country season.
Back in October, Rachel competed in the prestigious National Schools’ Biathlon in Bath which attracts top performing athletes from all over the country. Rachel, who is part of the Thames Turbo Triathlon club and has been a GB London Triathlon team runner, finished first in her age group category with a time of 2.32 in what was the fastest 800m track heat. Rachel will now go on to compete in the qualifying rounds in advance of the next competition in March 2022.
Rachel represents an athletic club in Twickenham where she competes every weekend during cross country season. Most recently, Rachel ran for Team Richmond and won silver at the London Youth Games in Parliament Hill in November qualifying her for the Southern Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships in December.
We wish Rachel all the best as she prepares for her next competitions and we congratulate her on her continued commitment to the sport. We have no doubt there will be many more athletics achievements on the horizon for this talented young athlete!
