Y10 Textile Trip to Balenciaga Exhibition

Published on 28/06/17

Year 10 textile pupils visited the Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion exhibition at the V&A museum. The exhibition examines the work and legacy of influential Spanish couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga, with over 100 pieces crafted by ‘the master’ of couture. The exhibition also included his protégées and contemporary fashion designers working in the same innovative tradition.  His influences were seen in the work of subsequent creative directors at Balenciaga Nicolas Ghesquiere and Demna Gvasalia. The pupils were able to take photographs and make sketches to include in their coursework. The second exhibition visited was the 2017 MA exhibition at the Royal college of Art in Kensington. This showcased the innovative graduation work of the Textile MA students and provided creative and forward thinking inspirational ideas.
