Surrey Schools and Youth Orienteering Festival
Published on 26/06/17

Eight pupils from the Prep School and seven from the Senior School represented Claremont Fan Court School at the Surrey Schools and Youth Orienteering Festival at Newlands Corner on 26 June. Thirteen schools and youth groups vied for the cup awarded to the best overall team, with the best four scores to count from each school in each age class.
The team put in a very spirited performance, making the most of the opportunity to run in a warm sunlit forest. Four Prep School boys chose to run the Y7/8 orange course, rather than the shorter yellow course designed for Y5/6, and did very well, placing 9th and 17th. The star performance was that of Jack P in Y7, who beat a very fast pair of brothers from George Abbot to take first place in Y7/8.
The overall team event was won by George Abbot’s School on 74 points, with Godalming Juniors second on 61 points and Claremont Fan Court third on 58 points.
