Historical Balloon Debate
Published on 30/03/17
Hannah M and Daisy N competed in the annual Richmond Historical Association Balloon Debate at Putney High School on Thursday 30 March. The aim is to take on a historical character and defend their chosen persons' worth in a sinking hot air balloon. The girls chose to represent John Cadbury and were against characters such as John Locke, Marie Curie and Johannes Gutenberg. The girls expertly defended their position and answered tough questions well about the legacy of chocolate today and the impact of chocolate on teeth and obesity.
The judges in their feedback praised their choice of someone quite different and how they presented it with humour. They were complimented on handling a tricky subject well and handling questions with ease. The girls did not win first place but were highly commended for their performance.
