Years 1 and 2
In Years 1 and 2 children learn to take responsibility for their learning, we encourage independence and reward individual achievement. Personal success is celebrated and shared in order to build self-confidence.
Observation and assessment inform future targets for each child. This, combined with frequent communication with parents, enables school and home to work together for the all-round development of each child.
The Pre-Prep has a dedicated swimming pool, sports hall and library. Specialist staff teach French, Spanish, PE, games and music. We provide EAL and IN tuition and run a gifted, talented and interested programme. Children are able to take part in a wide variety of co-curricular activities before, during and after school to enrich learning and develop skills outside the classroom.
We provide the best possible start for the youngest children at Claremont. For pupils to progress with confidence and acquire skills necessary for the next educational step and the world beyond the school gates.
"We work hard to ensure a smooth transition from the Early Years into Year 1 and the National Curriculum. Children progress rapidly at this age as they conquer reading, phonics and early number. Our small classes and careful teaching secure excellent outcomes and equip our children with the skills to thrive in the Prep School."
