The Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction  

• one category is 16 to 19 year olds  

• word count is between 800 – 2000 words  

• a story about anytime before you were born  

• can be a story, an extract from longer work, diary extract, a letter, poetry, drama or reportage  

• 2025 submissions not yet open (opens August) but you can start now
