During enrichment week, Year 7 and 8 pupils were invited to partake in and enjoy a series of workshops allowing them to extend their English skills. Rob Bradley, a poet-rapper and spoken word artist, encouraged pupils to write and perform their own short rhymes; his improvised freestyle poetry impressed pupils, particularly as they contributed the words! Ross Welford also joined us to share his expertise in narrative writing. As a published author and experienced journalist, he gave pupils an insight into the craft of writing to entertain. The Guildford Shakespeare company thrilled pupils with their theatrical activities – they thoroughly enjoyed the acting, especially creating their own freeze frames. In conjunction with the drama department, Year 7 pupils also acquired a new range of skills through a circus workshop in which they were taught how to use the diablo and learn plate spinning – they are now equipped with skills to host some excellent parties!
