The school community at Claremont is caring and inclusive, and we have a strong sense of social responsibility, and this includes offering discretionary bursaries to give more pupils the opportunity to benefit from an excellent education and outstanding pastoral support.
We welcome bursary applications from families who cannot afford the fees in full or in part. Bursary awards can be up to 100% of the tuition fees and may include help with extras such as school trips. All applications are means-tested and careful consideration is also given to individual family circumstances such as bereavement, relationship breakdown or other hardships. These factors all contribute to the level of award made combined with the bursary funds the school has available at the time of application.
The bursary application process is entirely separate to the admissions process and an application can commence after the registration fee has been paid and a place has been offered. Applications for Year 7 for September 2025 entry should apply as soon as possible in the Autumn term and by Monday 4 November latest. Year 7 applicants will be advised in January 2025 of the outcome of their application for financial support, at the same time as offers of places are confirmed.
Claremont uses a third party called Bursary Administration Limited (BAL) to assess the family’s financial and personal circumstances, and this normally involves a home visit. BAL then provides a report to the school that helps us to direct our support towards those families most in need and help us meet our responsibilities to the Charity Commission.
