The U14A team had a fantastic, closely contested game against St Paul’s, narrowly missing out in a 9–8 thriller. It was an exciting end-to-end match with plenty of skill and determination on display from both sides.
Ellie W’s speed was a real standout throughout, creating attacking opportunities and driving the team forward. Mia H also had standout moments all over the pitch. There was some excellent unit defence, with players working together brilliantly to shut down key threats and win crucial turnovers. A great team performance and a match full of positives to build on!
A great tournament for the U13C’s, achieving one win, one draw and two losses playing against A teams. There was so much improvement throughout the games, with each one becoming more competitive and the work rate never dropping. MVPs were Hattie, Diana and Sophie.
Our U12A team closed out the tournament in exceptional form, delivering another composed and disciplined performance to secure the title while maintaining a flawless defensive run throughout the tournament. In possession, the team displayed patience and precision, moving the ball confidently and creating sustained pressure in the attacking half. Transitions were sharp, and the balanced effort across midfield and attack kept opponents on the back foot for long stretches. Well done to all involved!

The U12Bs played seven pool games in the Abbotts Hill invitational tournament. Each game saw better and better lacrosse being played. Some excellent, disciplined 1v1 defence led to plenty of turnovers and opportunities. Two group wins against Abbotts Hill and STAHS Bs meant we went into the 5th/6th playoff vs Haileybury. The playoff game went similarly to the group game vs Haileybury, and Claremont had to make the most of our limited time with the ball. Unfortunately, Haileybury proved too strong, and Claremont finished 6th overall. MVPs: Greta, Poppy and Rosie for some excellent defensive work and great discipline all day.
The 1st VII netball team took on St Clere’s in a hard but promising match! With some injuries, the team focused on enjoying their cup game and putting into practice some newly learnt structures and techniques. Each player worked incredibly hard, with lots of turnovers, but struggled to convert them. There was some accurate shooting from Clara B and Emily I, both shooting at 90%, and the defence created turnovers with standouts from Xandi L and Lucy T. Well done to all involved!

A short and sweet game against Manor House. Despite not having a full team on court at the first whistle, we quickly composed ourselves to take an early lead. The defence remained organised, making it challenging for Manor House’s attack, resulting in a 7–4 win. POM: Gigi.
What an amazing game for the U12A team! After lots of training, the team were eager and keen to get on the court and put what they had learnt into practice. The attack were confident, with standout performances from Centre Mia A and some incredible interceptions from Elsa in defence. The team picked up loose balls and looked to keep possession as they converted the ball. Well done everyone!

A tough day at the office for the seniors. A scrappy game with the ball turned over consistently by both sides as the weather conditions made passing difficult. Zac battled hard at the breakdown and is starting to make a bid for the end-of-season finale starting line-up. Claremont had their chances but failed to capitalise on them. A late charge in the final minutes gave the home side hope, but as throughout the game, a loose final pass ended the phase, extinguishing that glimmer.
After the nerve-shredding tension of a dramatic one-point loss to St George’s in the Continental Cup two days prior, the U15A team faced another stubbornly resolute opponent in Cardinal Vaughan. Dominant across the match, Claremont were unable to shake off the tenacious visitors, only pulling clear in the final quarter.
Charlie H opened the scoring, all elbows and belligerence. Archie W scorched through for a second, before Robbie W poached the simplest of touchdowns from an extravagantly wayward pass. The visitors hit back, Claremont switching off at a lineout and showing some soft midfield defence.
The second half saw a repeat pattern, as Claremont struggled to shake off an obdurate opposition, despite boasting the majority of possession. Robbie benefited from an excellent chase by Archie, isolating the full back to stretch the lead. PoM Ed C barged over from a five-metre line free kick, Charlie adding a sixth, alongside three Eden M conversions. CV scored two further tries, but the game ebbed and flowed, never looking like being one the hosts would lose.
A comfortable 36–26 victory at the whistle ended a bittersweet week. The U15A remain unbeaten outside of the Cup and now look to target the remaining three games to sustain this proud record.

Claremont fell to RGS in a match that was very even and competitive until the last quarter. CFC unfortunately struggled for numbers this weekend, with the game played as 14 v 14 and no subs. For the first hour, Claremont were arguably the stronger team, going into half-time with a 21–7 lead thanks to excellent ball-carrying from the forwards and some great passing and speed from the backs, with everyone chipping in defensively. The lack of ability to rest players showed by the end, with RGS starting the second half well to wear down a CFC defence that eventually could not sustain the energy levels to keep them from scoring. A performance the players should be proud of given the circumstances.
Cardinal Vaughan are traditionally a very big side, and again they had a number of strong players. They are always confident and run hard at us, but this team is now made of sterner stuff. The initial contest was very even, controlled by CV, and left us scrambling in defence. The side tackled and contested at the breakdown, and when their chance came, the blistering pace and strength of George B broke clear and ran in a try from 40 yards. This gave the team confidence, and although CV had moments, everything was now done on the front foot. Every scrum was won, including CV’s. Rucks were challenging, and although the boys were second in size, body positions and technique meant we always retained our ball and began to win the opposition’s. The first half was sealed by a brilliant try, made up of strong running and excellent support play. Indeed, the third offload to a man running on to the ball saw Charlie S run under the posts unopposed.
The second half again started with CV giving their all, but Claremont quickly took the initiative. If it hadn’t been for some interesting passing or questionable ball-carrying technique, the game could have been put to bed in the first ten minutes, but two more tries in this half were enough. The second was a beautiful sidestep by Charlie S on his own 22, which found him in space, and he ran clear. A brilliant individual try, if only his conversion had been as clinical. This game was won and lost by the efforts of our players in taking the ball forward. There are now consistent ball carriers in the team, but this week George K, who was involved in everything, really gave the team impetus. In defence, this team may struggle with organisation, but the tackling and determination to stop opposition runners is tremendous.
From the start, it was very clear that Cardinal Vaughan had some excellent players. Their winger opened the scoring with a powerful run down the left flank with little resistance. Suffering from some early morning fatigue, the Claremont boys were very slow to start and quickly fell three scores behind due to big runs from the Cardinal Vaughan players. However, around the 20th minute, belief returned to the players thanks to some big tackles, setting the platform to the ruck, which had been a big focus in this week’s training.
We could do nothing to stem the flow of the CV attack, but we were able to string together multiple rucks before slinging the ball wide for some entertaining tries. This resulted in Claremont clawing back six tries, including the final play of the match, which saw the biggest cheer from the players, who finished the match on a real high. The Claremont boys left the pitch exhausted but feeling they had given everything for that last score and achieved something, including excellent performances by Charlie, Will, Max and Jimmy in particular.
This was an excellent, well-contested game. The match started well with an excellent try from Ollie M. Cardinal Vaughan then applied pressure, scoring a few tries before half-time. The boys responded well, with strong running from James and Leo, resulting in a couple of tries in return. CV had a couple of very strong runners that exploited a few missed tackles. A 6–3 loss, but the boys continue to improve. On to the next one.
The U12C team put in an admirable performance in their first rugby match of the season against CVS. Although the result didn’t go their way, the team demonstrated outstanding determination from the first whistle to the last. They worked tirelessly throughout, always looking for opportunities to carry the ball forward, and showed real bravery in both attack and defence.
