We are thrilled to announce that Thea in Year 8, is one of the winners of the prestigious International Spirited Arts Competition! Each year, all Year 7 pupils at Claremont Fan Court School enter this global competition, and this year there were thousands of entries. In over 20 years of participation, Thea is our first-ever winner, an incredible accomplishment!

Thea’s winning entry, titled “Our World of Hope Through My Eyes”, explores the theme of living in a diverse world. Her artwork features an eye with a group of people in the iris and a rainbow-coloured pupil, representing the Pride flag and celebrating community. By outlining the people without using colour, Thea encourages us to look beyond appearances (race, nationality, religion, or ability) and to see the person inside.

The message I am trying to convey is that we shouldn’t see the world as what people look like or what they believe in, we should see the whole person and who they are.

Thea, Year 8

Her thoughtful and powerful message reminds us all to embrace diversity, understanding, and inclusion in our everyday lives.

We are so proud of Thea’s creativity, insight, and courage to express such an important message through art.

You can read a full description of her work on the Spirited Arts Competition website.
