Families are warmly encouraged to join an open morning or book a private family tour. You’ll meet our staff, explore the campus, and see lessons in action. Families applying for Year 5 and above may also attend senior school open events to experience the journey ahead.

Reception Entry

Children join Reception in the September following their fourth birthday, attending five full days each week.

Deadline for applications

Monday 2 November 2026 – Early applications are encouraged as the number of available places will be limited.

Admissions visits will be held weekly as applications are received.

Years 3–5 Entry

Places are available for Years 3, 4 and 5 at the start of each academic year. The main assessment takes place in November of the year before entry.

• Offers made: week commencing 16 November 2026

We also consider applications throughout the year for entry into the current or following academic year, depending on availability.

• Reception – Year 2: A morning visit with gentle tasks alongside peers
• Years 3 – 6: A Saturday assessment morning including age-appropriate maths, English, and creative writing in a supportive small-group setting

We understand this may be a child’s first assessment experience, and our focus is to make it calm, encouraging, and even fun.

Following assessment, we’ll discuss results and next steps with you. Families accepting a place will complete paperwork and pay a deposit to confirm. Children are then invited to a settling-in afternoon in the summer term before joining in September.

All prospective families are warmly invited to visit the school in the spring or summer term of Year 5 or the autumn term of Year 6.

If you have indicated that you wish to apply for a scholarship, you will need to fill in a separate scholarship application form. This will be available in your application portal following registration. For further details on the scholarships available, please visit the scholarships page.

Requests for reasonable adjustments such as extra time or laptop must also be submitted by Tuesday 3 November 2026. Any reasonable adjustments requested will need to be supported by appropriate evidence at the time of application as follows:

• A report from an educational psychologist, specialist assessor or equivalent medical practitioner (produced within two years of the entrance exam)
• Email confirmation from the current school to the admissions office that the arrangements requested are the candidate’s normal way of working

Our entrance assessments will be held on Saturday 28 November 2026.

Applicants are invited to attend an assessment day at Claremont, where they will complete a series of age-appropriate assessments designed to evaluate their academic potential.

The assessments include:

• English and verbal reasoning (a combined paper set by GL Assessment)
• Mathematics and non-verbal reasoning (a combined paper set by GL Assessment)
• Creative writing (set by our own English department)

Full details, including timings and arrangements, will be shared with families after the application deadline of 3 November.

To help applicants feel familiar with the style of the assessments, we recommend exploring the free familiarisation materials and sample papers available from GL Assessment before the assessment day.

As part of our admissions process, every applicant is invited to attend an individual interview, which will take place during the autumn term. The interview allows us to get to know each child beyond the assessment papers, giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their communication skills, curiosity, confidence and ability to work collaboratively.

Following the admissions process, offers of places are typically made in late January. Families wishing to accept their child’s place will be asked to return their acceptance forms and deposit by early March. Full details, including key dates and next steps, will be shared alongside the offer.

All candidates sitting for Year 9 Deferred Entry for September 2029 will sit their entrance examination at Claremont on Saturday 28 November 2026 using a combination of our own bespoke test in creative writing and GL assessments in English and verbal reasoning (a combined paper) and mathematics and non-verbal reasoning (combined paper). We do not use the ISEB pre-test for Deferred Entry applicants.

Please note that existing Claremont Year 11 pupils do not need to send in an application form or pay the registration fee.

We believe that choosing the right sixth form is about more than academic qualifications. Prospective students are therefore invited to spend a day with us, taking part in A level taster lessons, meeting with our staff for an interview, and completing an assessment. This provides an opportunity to explore their subjects of interest, experience the atmosphere of our sixth form, and discover whether Claremont is the right fit for their next stage of education.

Successful applicants will be offered a place conditional on meeting any prerequisite GCSE grades. Prospective A level students are expected to have achieved an average GCSE points score of 6 points across at least 8 subjects and specifically to have achieved high grades in their chosen/related A level subjects (please refer to the subject prerequisites sheet for more specific information)
