“I am incredibly proud of this year’s Year 11 cohort. Their results reflect their hard work, determination and willingness to embrace every opportunity. They should take great pride in what they have achieved, and we are excited to see what comes next.”
William Brierly, Head GCSE Results Day 2026
Hot on the heels of last week’s A level success, there were smiles, celebrations and plenty of proud parents at Claremont this morning as Year 11 pupils received their GCSE results, marking an important milestone in their educational journeys.
At Claremont, pupils pursue the subjects that inspire and engage them most at GCSE. With an exceptional choice of 28 GCSE subjects, ranging from classical civilisation and further mathematics to photography and media studies, every pupil chooses a curriculum that reflects their individual interests, strengths and their ambitions for the future. This year’s cohort embraced that freedom of choice, creating distinctive programmes of study and achieving good outcomes, with 56% of all grades awarded at 7-9 (equivalent to A*-A). These results mirror those of our 2024 cohort, who went on to achieve 51% A*/A grades at A level, and are more than twice the national average.
As a gently selective but highly ambitious school, our learning journey strives to nurture curiosity, embed resilience, kindness and confidence and to empower our pupils to thrive in the world around them. With the unwavering encouragement of their families and the support of their teachers, our pupils have achieved outcomes of which they can be really proud. More importantly, they move on to sixth form studies with the skills and ambition to get the most out of what comes next.
While this year’s GCSE results represent a solid step forward in Claremont’s academic record, they tell only part of the wider story. With the introduction of a three-year GCSE programme, increased flexibility in subject choice and an emphasis on academic enrichment across all subjects, fresh changes are continuing to create even greater opportunities for pupils to achieve success at the highest levels. There are exciting times ahead.
“We are incredibly proud of our daughter, not only for these excellent results but also for the kindness and determination she has shown throughout her time at Claremont. She has benefited from the unwavering support of her teachers, tutors and the whole school community, and has felt valued, supported and genuinely happy.”
