Claremont Fan Court School
Radnor, Class of 1997
Wacera Kimani
Wacera was a boarder whilst she attended Claremont. She reflects on her transition from Kenya to Claremont and highlights the school's commitment to fostering an inclusive environment:
“I arrived in Claremont in 1994, leaving behind my home country of Kenya. It was a big step for me, as I had never been outside of Kenya before. Stepping into Claremont, I immediately noticed that I was surrounded by people who didn’t look like me. In my 6th form, there was only one other students who looked like me, a boy from Nigeria and myself. It was definitely a different experience, but I have to say that the administrative staff and most of the teachers made an effort to create an inclusive environment. Despite the lack of diversity, I felt welcomed and supported during my time at Claremont.”
