Once again Claremont pupils have been able to celebrate superb public exams, with the release of this year’s GCSE results. When it comes to great outcomes, our pupils have achieved more top grades* than ever, with 32% of exams awarded grades 8 or 9 (in other words A* and A**). Our pupils had a record 26 subjects to choose from, for which 54% of entries were graded 7 or above (A to A**). They are now perfectly placed to benefit from both our 30 A level options and our Joyce Grenfell scholarship programme.
Claremont’s head, William Brierly, commented, ‘I am so proud of our pupils for the successes they have achieved today. This year group was our biggest ever, with an almost perfect balance of boys and girls and they have clearly thrived thanks to the creation of more small classes and broader subject choices such as GCSE Latin and photography. Our pupils have shown both determination and intellect in their approach to GCSEs.’
In recent years we have championed the importance of a really close balance of boys and girls in delivering the right sort of learning experience. The improvement in Claremont’s results in both this and recent years highlight the benefits of learning in a truly co-ed environment. Mr Brierly commented, ‘With even more opportunities ahead through the Joyce Grenfell scholarship programme, and I cannot wait to see how their future years of learning progress.’
