This week, Claremont took part in Anti-Bullying Week, joining the national campaign led by the Anti-Bullying Alliance under the theme “Power for Good.”

As always, our school community came together to celebrate individuality, kindness and respect, values at the heart of what we do at Claremont.

Odd Sock Day

On Monday 10 November, students and staff kicked off the week by proudly wearing their odd socks to school. pupils across the whole school joined in by wearing their brightest, most creative odd socks to show their support for the Anti-Bullying campaign and to celebrate individuality.

Odd Sock Day was a fun and visible way for our community to show support for the message that being unique is something to be celebrated, not hidden. At Claremont, we recognise that each and every one of our pupils is different and unique, and we always aim to promote the acceptance of difference.

Listening to our pupils

Throughout the week, pupils took part in a school-wide questionnaire on bullying. The responses will help our pastoral team better understand students’ experiences (both in school and online) so we can continue strengthening our support systems. We are very proud of the care and attention our pastoral team gives to every student, and this feedback will ensure that we keep building a safe, inclusive environment for all.

Supporting mental health and wellbeing

Alongside our Anti-Bullying Week activities, we reminded families about the ‘Teen Tips’ Wellbeing Hub, which Claremont subscribes to. The Hub offers parents a wealth of resources on topics such as anxiety, self-care, body image, online safety and motivation. This month’s theme was Mental Illness in Children, featuring insightful podcasts and a webinar on Eating Disorders held on 19 November.

Local support in surrey

We also continue to highlight Mindworks Surrey, a local ‘one stop’ website providing trusted advice and urgent mental health support for young people and their families. You can explore their resources here: www.mindworks-surrey.org

A community that cares

Anti-Bullying Week is always a powerful reminder of the importance of empathy, respect and community spirit. It was wonderful to see so many students and staff take part so enthusiastically. Thank you to everyone who joined in, especially for showing off your brightest, boldest odd socks!

Together, we continue to make Claremont a place where every individual feels valued, safe and supported.
