Claremont School is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Equaliteach Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Bronze Award, recognising the school’s strong commitment to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone. The award reinforces that the school actively promotes respect, fairness and understanding, ensuring that every child feels valued, supported and able to be themselves.
Over the past year, the Claremont community has worked collaboratively towards this achievement through a series of focused initiatives. These included reviewing school policies with an EDI lens, expanding staff training on unconscious bias and inclusive practice, strengthening pupil voice through forums and surveys, and embedding diversity across the curriculum. We all play a part in shaping the school’s action plan and championing positive change.
To achieve the Bronze Award, both the Senior and Junior school met Equaliteach’s key standards in:
For pupils, this means learning in a school where diversity is reflected in the curriculum, their voices are listened to, and positive relationships are encouraged. It supports a culture where differences are celebrated, bullying and discrimination are challenged, and wellbeing is prioritised.
For parents and carers, the award provides reassurance that the school takes equality seriously, has strong policies and practices in place, and is continually working to improve. It shows that Claremont School is committed not only to academic success, but also to nurturing confident, respectful and socially aware young people.
We are delighted to receive the Equaliteach Bronze Award. It reflects the hard work and passion of our entire school community. This recognition motivates us to continue building an environment where every child can thrive.
