Shooting Star (Guildford)

The Pre-Prep School has been working with the Shooting Star Children’s hospice in Guildford for a couple of years and nominated them as their Claremont 100 charity. Shooting Star is a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. They support families across Surrey and London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care. Grace Dear Trust

One of the Senior School’s nominated charities. The Grace Dear Trust is a mental health charity set up by the Dear family after losing their daughter and sister, Grace, to suicide aged just 27 in February 2017. Their aim is to help save the lives of other young people suffering with mental health issues. The Grace Dear Trust want to raise awareness amongst school children, giving support to those who need it, they currently fund counsellors to visit schools, giving young people the help they need promptly and in an environment that isn’t intimidating. We are currently in discussions with the Grace Dear Trust about volunteering opportunities as well as other collaboration opportunities. The money raised by Claremont 100 will fund the expansion of the great work the Grace Dear Trust already does, including more counsellors to visit local Surrey schools. Rentstart

One of the Senior School’s nominated charities. Rentstart helps local people in Elmbridge who are homeless or vulnerably housed. Rentstart provides a number of support services, beyond finding a roof to put over peoples heads, they also provide support for people to move on with their lives. As a local charity they have a small team and support from Claremont 100 will be transformation for a lot of local people. We have already had a couple of pupils volunteer at Rentstart working in their office and there are a number of volunteering opportunities being discussed.  Please click here to visit Rentstart’s website for more information.

 

Momentum

One of the Senior School’s nominated charities, based in East Molesey. Momentum supports families across SW London, Surrey and Sussex whose children are facing cancer or a life-challenging condition. Momentum tailors their provision to match the child and families support needs, helping them through the hardest of times, so they can keep moving forward. Nominated by a student, we know the difference Momentum has made, and Claremont 100’s partnership will ensure they are able to help many more families. We are currently in discussions with Momentum about how the funding will be directed and to identify potential volunteering opportunities. The Trussell Trust, Elmbridge Foodbanks

A volunteering and resource partner of Claremont 100. We will be working with the national charity, The Trussell Trust to support Elmbridge and local food banks. Over the year, Claremont 100 will work with the local food banks with food drives and collecting specific items to meet the local food bank needs.
