Claremont students from Years 7 and 8 are entered into the national maths challenge run by the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) each year. This competition involves around 650,000 students from approximately 4,500 schools. It tests students and encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.

This year, pupils who participated achieved a number of gold, silver and bronze awards and 3 of our Year 8 students qualified for the next round called the ‘Junior Kangaroo.’  Only a couple of thousand students are invited to take part in the additional ‘Kangaroo’ rounds which are a lot harder. A special well done goes to Isobel P, Hidde L and Tom D for their participation in this extended challenge round.

Congratulations to all students who were involved with the challenge.
