A one-two, a one, two, three, four… that is the sound of the count into every vibrant drumming session, drums incidentally being the most famous member of the percussion group of musical instruments, and at the same time one of the oldest musical instruments known to mankind.

Despite the COVID pandemic that we have all lived through these past months, it was wonderful to hear music being made by five of our very talented percussion students.

The format was very different to previous performances since there was no live audience to enjoy the music, and the delectable tea which we all enjoy was also absent! However, as ever the focus of these performances is to present a wide range of abilities, which meant each participant had the opportunity to perform and showcase a chosen piece of music.

Many thanks to all those involved in making this a very enjoyable afternoon and well done to our talented students and who continue to be inspired by our most skilled peripatetic tutor, a real pro, Mr Spevock!

Participating students were:

    • Ollie H (Year 11) – “Here comes the sun”
    • Matthew C (Year 9) – “Knock on Wood”
    • Henry Z (Year 8) – “Sir Duke”
    • Aaron R (Year 7) – “Song 2”
    • Connor B-W (Year 12) – “The Weight”
