Poetry by Heart event at the Globe

On Monday 20 June, three pupils from Year 7: Chloe A, Michela B and Abigail F, were invited to be part of the audience at the Poetry by Heart celebration event at Shakespeare’s Globe. It was a fantastic day and the pupils really enjoyed their first experience of the globe theatre and the opportunity to see the finalists perform.

In addition, we were lucky enough to see a showcase from previous finalists of the Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award, which is one of the biggest and most established prizes for young people aged 11 – 17 in the world. The 2022 CLIPPA Award shortlist was also announced and we enjoyed performances from Valerie Bloom, Liz Brownlee, Matt Goodfellow, Laura Mucha, Manjeet Mann and Kate Wakeling.

The globe was filled with poetry, enthusiasm and joy! It was such an inspiring day, which gave us all a lot to reflect on and we are looking forward to entering the competition again next year.
