The prose reading final took place on Wednesday 30 June behind the steps of the mansion. This was a very poignant event as it marked the first whole school gathering since the easing of restrictions. The last prose final had been held on world book day in March 2020, just a couple of weeks before the first lock down and Boris Johnson announced the closure of all schools in England.

All the finalists gave excellent performances and delivered their prose with confidence and conviction. Indeed, they made the judges’ job very difficult for them! Congratulations to all who participated and to the following children who were awarded prizes:

    • Junior prize (Year 3 and 4) – Halle S. ‘Billionaire Boy’ by David Walliams
    • Year 5 prize – Elsie R. ‘ Mr Stink’ by David Walliams
    • Year 6 prize – Ethan M. ‘The Explorer’ by Katherine Rundell
    • Outstanding performance – Christina M-H ‘Boy’ by Roald Dahl
